In 1 Kings 3 Solomon is said to love the Lord, except he sacrificed on the high places.  It also records Solomon’s prayer for an understanding heart to judge the LORD’s people and discern between good and evil. The LORD grants him his request, as well as riches and honor.  Solomon shows his wisdom when 2 women approach him asking him to judge whose son lived and whose son died.  He offered to cut the boy in half, but the true mother of the boy would rather give him up than have him die, whereas the woman who was not his mother wanted him divided.  The thing that stands out to me this morning is the statement that Solomon loved the Lord, except … O Lord, I do not want any “excepts” in my love for You.  Root out all things in my life that would hinder my love for You.
