In Exodus 20, The Lord gave the 10 commandments to the people of Israel. The first 4 have to do with mankind’s relationship with the Lord and the last 6 have to do with mankind’s relationship to each other.  The Lord was and is clear as to HIS standard of righteousness for mankind to attain.  The reality is mankind never has and never will reach the standard of righteousness HE requires and thus are justly condemned for their lack of righteousness. The Law can never make anyone righteous, instead it only points out their unrighteousness.  As Paul says in Romans 3:20, “through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.”  The Lord has not and will not lower his standard of righteousness, yet HE loves His people so much that, “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)”  Those who place their Faith in Jesus are placed into Him and His righteousness is credited to their account, thus meeting God The Father’s standard of righteousness.  Praise be to You Lord, for the indescribable gift of Jesus.
