In chapter 17 the Israelites complain about their situation again.  They have asked multiple times before this, why did the Lord bring us out of Egypt?  They had no sense of gratitude or understanding of the Lord’s willingness to help them.  They also had missed the other times where the Lord provided despite their ungrateful attitude.   How often are we upset with the situation we are put in? How often do we get frustrated with the Lord about how we deserve better? How often do we say we might as well have never been given this?  We cannot forget the Lord’s providence and the huge blessings he gives us!  When God saves an individual, he has been given a blessing that is completely undeserved.  God has blessed those of us who he has saved, and yet we are unable to trust him with our everyday physical needs.  I am reminded of this passage:

Matthew 6: 25  “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on.  Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not of more value than they?”

Our God is a great God.  He is capable of providing for us in every way we need.  We can trust in his plan.  We can trust his provision.
