Abide Together: Reflections on Genesis 2
In Genesis 2 God through Moses gives more detail on certain aspects of His creation. He spends most of His time describing the creation of Man and Woman. He creates Adam and places him in the garden of Eden and abundantly gives him everything he needs to live. Then God says it is not good for man to be alone, so He creates animals and Adam does not find a suitable helper for himself. Then God causes Adam to fall asleep and forms woman (Eve) out of one of Adam’s ribs. Adam responds with a poem to celebrate God’s gift of woman. Here God institutes His plan for marriage – one man united to one woman. This is a beautiful gift from God and brings order and beauty to the world. Lord, thank you for the gift of Marriage and for blessing me with a godly wife and 6 wonderful children.
