Isaiah 25

Isaiah seems to be really excited in this passage. He is focused on praising God for judging his enemies and for saving his people. He is excited about the future – the feast that God will prepare for them – the tears which will be wiped away… He is excited that the time of suffering seems to be coming to an end.

I’m excited today too. I’m excited about the things I witnessed this weekend as I worked a Faith in Action Camp with Jr High and High School students. They spent their weekend – rain and all – working to serve others in our community. One group built a wheelchair ramp for a double amputee, another group volunteered with the True to Life Ministry Garage Sale, and a third group repaired a fence and built a picnic table for a widow. These students were generous with their time and God used them to spread His word this weekend. Verse 4 of our passage today says, “For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.” These students lived out some of the very same things Isaiah was so excited about. He worshipped God and praised Him for these things. We were a part of helping the poor, the needy, and providing “shelter from the storm.”

Today, I’m joining Isaiah in praising God for the wonderful things He has done – for inviting these students to join Him in that work – and for using them to accomplish His purposes. I rejoice that our future is in His hands and that “He will swallow up death forever” “Let us be glad and rejoice in His salvation.”
