In Genesis 20 Abraham lies to Abimelech about Sarah not being his wife but his sister.  Abraham told a half truth, which is a whole lie.  His sin effected more than just him, but Abimelech and his family as well.  When asked why he acted this way Abraham responded with, “Because I thought, surely there is no fear of God in this place…”  Abraham was exactly right with this statement, but there was great irony in how this played out.  The one who did not fear God in this situation was not Abimelech, but Abraham.  If Abraham would have had a proper reverent fear of God, he would not have lied about Sarah.  Instead, he would have trusted the LORD and told the truth about Sarah.  Lord, may I always keep a reverent fear of You so that I will not fear man.
