In Job 40 God addresses Job directly with: “Will the fault finder contend with the Almighty? Let him who reproves God answer it.” Job humbly answers that he has nothing to say. It is obvious by this point in Job’s trial that he has come along way from not sinning with his lips. He has condemned God with his lips (v. 8). Then the LORD once again shows HIS power over all things and Job’s power over nothing. Pain and difficulty in life do not mean that God has failed, is punishing someone or has forgotten about HIS people. HE is in absolute control and is using all things to conform HIS children more and more into the image of Jesus. Lord, protect my lips from sinning against You in the midst of pain. Instead, may I continue to praise you in all things.
