Abide Together: Reflections on Deuteronomy 8
In Deuteronomy 8 the Israelites are reminded of the gracious provision of the Lord. He provided food for them during their entire time in the wilderness. He made it so their shoes would not wear out or their feet swell. He was now going to bring them into the promised land that was full of blessings. He warned them not to forget that it was HE who provides them with everything including their freedom. They must not forget that everything they have is by God’s grace, even the ability to work and make wealth. Often God’s people forget that it is not their hard work that brings them blessing, for even the ability to work is from God. Lord, remind me that everything I have is a gift from You and I can take no credit for any of it. Truly Your grace is amazing.
